Well, it’s a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning here in Wolverhampton, England! And since I was awakened by the daylight at 5:00a local time, I’ve had a bit of time to reflect on an important event this weekend. This past Friday evening (July 6), it was my privilege to speak at the commencement ceremony for the Baptist Bible College of Great Britain.
Although the school is small, the Bible tells us not to despise the day of small things, and certainly the Book is a testimonial to how God has used little places, little people, little tasks, and little things throughout history to accomplish great purposes. And therein lies the point that I’d like to share.
If a church, a culture, or a country is to be impacted for the cause of Jesus Christ, it requires that “we the people” must act – not solely in our own best interest (it will become that, but it should be as a by-product of seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness), but in the interest of others.
I can’t help but wonder – what can God do through the lives of all “the little people” in Cannock … in Greta Britain … in the world … if we would but put Him first in all that we are, and do, and say? Surely, with our priorities ordered after His own, and with the power of Heaven energizing us, He can use even the least of us for His Glory and the furtherance of His kingdom!
Well, enough for the moment – I’m leaving momentarily to worship with the band of believers at the Kindsmeade Baptist Church this morning. It’s a rare Sunday in my life when I am not preaching, but today, that is the case, as I attend their service. By the way, their building was originally built in the 1700’s as a preaching station for a gentleman named John Wesley! Does that name ring a bell?
