I am continually amazed at the limited vision of so many within the Christian community. In the final book of the New Testament, Jesus Christ who addressed seven real local churches, admonished the church at Laodecia concerning their lack of vision. I was recently encouraged by the vision of a Christian group here in England and what they are accomplishing in their kingdom work for our Lord. But almost as quickly, naysayers were quick to point out how difficult serving Christ is in the UK in these times.
I’ve said for years that we do not see the world the way it is – we see it the way we are! In the same country, two different groups of believers view the same people and while one sees the opportunities and proceeds toward great accomplishments for God, the other sees the difficulties and is limited … not by the difficulties, but by their own perspective of what great things God can do through His children who are wholly dedicated to Him.
My prayer for myself and for believers everywhere can be summarized in the words of a song written by a 16-year-old young man named Mike Otto back in the 1970’s – “Let me see this world, dear Lord, as though I were looking through your eyes!” Surely, if we anoint our eyes with eye-salve (Rev 3:18b), we can see more clearly the opportunities that surround us and arise to accomplish great exploits for Christ.
